First thing that comes to our mind when we say crystal is Swarovski. Nobody does brilliance better than Swarovski, a company that was created more than 100 years ago in Austria. The Swarovski company was founded in 1895 in Wattens,Tyrol in Austria, by Daniel Swarovski. His motto was: “Create a diamond for everyone”.
In 1892 Daniel Swarovski patented an electric cutting machine for creating precision-cut, awesome looking, high quality lead glass crystals using quartz, sand, and minerals. The exact proportions of these raw materials is a company secret even today. Crystals are not diamonds or precious stones they’re just glass that’s coated and polished so that it shines from miles away.
First time Swarovski crystals were featured in the 1932 in movie “Blonde Venus” starring Marlene Dietrich, after that you could see them on Michael Jackson’s studded glove, Madonna’s dress, Audrey Hepburn’s tiara in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and shiny slippers in The Wizard of Oz.
In 2016 and 2017 company provided the Rockefeller Center famous Christmas tree with a 550 pound enormous Northstar topper. It gains its intense luster from 25,000 sparkling crystals featuring over 1 million radiant facets.
Every year for the last 20 years Swarovski put up a Swarovski Christmas tree in Zurich where they provide 6000 shimmering Swarovski pieces.

There are a few ways to check if crystals are real or not
– crystals should have a shine comparable to a diamond
– there shouldn’t be any bubbles in the crystal or scratches on the surface
– each crystal should be identical in size
– ideally the crystals should come from an authorized retailer in blue boxes with authenticity certificates.
